TITLE: THE CONSEQUENCES OF LABOURING OUTSIDE THE WILL OF GOD (PART 3)

KEY TEXT: 1 KINGS 1:5 KJV: “Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.”

Do not force yourself in a position that does not belong to you. Maybe you were to be a medical doctor, but then you decided to become a preacher because you see other pastors flying private jets and building houses. When God calls you, He will give you direction, anoint you, and tell you the right thing to do. ROMANS 12:4 KJV

When Jesus eventually told His disciples to cast their net after toiling hard in John 21:6, they were unable to draw it because of the multitude of fish they caught. We must labour within the plans of God for our lives. We see a different Peter in Acts 2 from the one who caught fish. He was blossoming out of the power of the Holy Spirit that was breathed upon him by Jesus Christ. ACTS 2:14 KJV

KEY TEXT: JOHN 21:3 KJV, “Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.”

Peter was originally created to win souls for Christ, not to be a fisherman. At one point, he laboured to catch fish but caught nothing, but when Jesus Christ stepped into that situation, he caught something. Jesus thereafter told him that he was to catch men. JOHN 21:6 KJV

Most people who claim to be Christians do not know what they are doing to themselves. They have no idea that the wrath of God awaits them if they are found guilty after death. I wonder if people realize the penalty that follows the sin of impersonation (one claiming to be what he/she is not). Most so-called believers cannot explain what makes them to be called believers, yet they claim to be believers. 3 John 1:11 KJV

Know that whatever state a person is in before his or her death would be used to judge him or her. A person’s last state of mind or lifestyle will determine his or her eternity. KEY TEXT: Psalms 81:15 KJV, “The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.”

The key text gives us understanding of the importance of submitting to God and also the consequences of disobeying His laws and ordinances. What is submission? It means to yield or give way to another. To submit to God means to yield to His authority; to fully surrender; to end all resistance. For us to have the life of God in us, we must surrender to His will concerning our lives. God knows what is ahead of us that we do not know; therefore, yielding to His Word means getting life from God for self preservation. MATTHEW 7:21-23 KJV

Studies and experience have made it clear that human beings are at their most vulnerable state during the time of pleasure and comfort. Man has the nature of being vigilant when faced with pressure, challenges, and difficulties in life. No wonder God, in His great wisdom, would always allow His children to face some challenges. These challenges are not to punish them, but it is a form of wake up call. Most vibrant believers of yesterday suddenly became lukewarm and ineffective, because they were living in pleasure, which led many to start living in past glory. REVELATION 2:5 KJV
