TITLE: NO ACCEPTABLE DEFENSE BEFORE GOD IN ETERNITY

KEY TEXT: Matthew 7:22-23 KJV: “Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

From our key text, the Scripture tells us how some believers will stand to defend themselves on the day of judgment by their works. Many will stand to tell the Lord how they sang, preached, evangelized, gave alms to the poor, went to church daily, did all the church work, performed many signs and wonders, etc. But the Lord Jesus will tell them that He never knew them, because they were workers of iniquity. Who then are the workers of iniquity? They are those who go to church, and do whatever they are doing for the Lord, but forget to work out their own salvation in the fear of God and in obedience to His word. Matthew 7:21-23

Workers of iniquity are those that concentrate on their work for God, forgetting their walk with Him is very important. At the judgment seat, they are not recognized because their names are not found written in the Lamb's Book of Life. They failed to live a holy life that was demanded of them in 1 Peter 1:15-16, which would have made Christ to recognize them as His very own. Luke 10:20

Beloved in Christ, be reminded that there's no appeal before the judgment seat of Christ. It's only on earth where people can seek for an appeal after losing their case in the court. After death, no appeal is made before the judgment throne of Christ after one's verdict is pronounced. You have all the time now to seek God's mercy, by repenting from all your sins, running away from evil, and pleading for mercy now that you are still alive, because once you die, the chapter closes. 2 Corinthians 5:10

PRAYER: O Lord, please have mercy on me and forgive my sins, and give me the grace to live my life worthy of hearing, "welcome my faithful servant", on the last day, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: Revelation 22:14 KJV: “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
