*TITLE: DON’T DROP YOUR CROSS (PART 2)*

*KEY TEXT: 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”*

*We should bear whatever we are going through now. The grace of God is sufficient for you in that situation you are going through. You are not forsaken or neglected, rather the glory of God is upon you. Apostle Paul said he gloried in his infirmity. Brethren, glory in that situation that Jesus has allowed to come to you and do not compromise your faith. Stand firm in holiness and righteousness, because He that will change your vile body incorruptible is waiting earnestly to reward you. Matthew 24:13*

*KEY TEXT: Matthew 16:24 KJV: “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”*

*How you start the Christian race is not as important as how you finish the race. If a Christian falls away, their past righteousness will not save them. What matters is your spiritual status at present. It is important that you and I do not drop our cross. Why? Because Jesus Christ bore the burden of the cross and did not drop it. If He did, we all would have been doomed forever. Hebrews 12:2*

*In Revelation 1:14, we see that Jesus is at the peak of His glory, an outcome of His endurance of the cross. If Jesus had rejected the cross and refused to die, you would not have seen the glory upon His life or how He is exalted to have the name above every other name. Immediately He died for our sins, he received an accelerated promotion in the spirit because of the sorrow and anguish He endured. Philippians 2:9*

*KEY TEXT: 2 Corinthians 2:17 KJV: "For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”*

*Jesus' harshest rebukes, were often reserved for hypocritical religious leaders. In Matthew 23:13, He proclaims, "But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in." This accusation emphasizes the severe consequences of hypocrisy, as it not only misleads others but also hinders one's own spiritual journey. 1 PETER 1:22*

*KEY TEXT: Proverbs 12:22 KJV: “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.”*

*The prophet Micah also condemns hypocritical leaders, declaring, "The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us" (Micah 3:11). This criticism highlights the corruption and self-interest masked by the appearance of religious authority. PSALMS 52:2*

*In the New Testament, the Apostle John addresses hypocrisy in the context of love, writing, "My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth" (1 John 3:18). This verse calls for love that is demonstrated through genuine actions rather than mere words. We are to love genuinely unlike what we have today, saying love in the mouth and hatred in the heart, backstabbing is now the new norm in the church today. God expect us to love each other sincerely from the heart. COLOSSIANS 3:9*

*KEY TEXT: Proverbs 11:3 KJV: “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.”*

*In the book of Proverbs, Solomon offers wisdom on the dangers of hypocrisy, stating, "He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool" (Proverbs 10:18 KJV). This proverb underscores the foolishness of concealing true feelings behind deceitful words, highlighting the value of honesty. 2 CORINTHIANS 8:21*

*Jesus also illustrates the futility of hypocritical judgment in His parable about the speck and the plank: "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" (Matthew 7:3 KJV). This parable teaches the importance of self-examination and humility before criticizing others. PROVERBS 12:22*

TITLE: A LIFESTYLE VOID OF HYPOCRISY IS DEMANDED (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: Matthew 7:15 KJV: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

The Psalms also address this issue, as seen in Psalm 55:21: "The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords." Here, the psalmist laments the deceitfulness of those who speak kindly but harbor malicious intentions, illustrating the destructive potential of hypocritical behavior

*TITLE: LIFESTYLE VOID OF HYPOCRISY IS DEMANDED*

*KEY TEXT: 2 Timothy 3:5 KJV: "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."*

*Hypocrisy is a significant theme addressed in the Bible, and the scriptures offer profound insights into its nature and consequences. In the book of Matthew, Jesus Christ openly condemns the Pharisees for their hypocritical behavior, saying, "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness" (Matthew 23:27). This vivid imagery underscores the stark contrast between outward appearances and inner reality, a hallmark of hypocrisy.*

*The Old Testament also highlights God's dislike for hypocrisy. In Isaiah, the prophet rebukes the people of Israel for their insincere worship, stating, "Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me" (Isaiah 29:13). This passage emphasizes that genuine devotion to God is a matter of the heart, not merely of external rituals.*

*TITLE: GOD’S WORD DAILY*

*KEY TEXT: Hebrews 4:12 KJV: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”*

*GOD’S WORD GUIDES: God’s word is a living word. The Bible is the only book where the Author is always present and available to personally teach and guide its readers. As we meditate, the Author is also inspiring and directing us. Nobody goes through life already knowing what to do. Life is far too complex and events are far too unpredictable for us to know what to do at all times. Nobody knows everything, but we know a God who knows everything, and through His word, we have light. Psalm 119:105*

*KEY TEXT: Colossians 1:16 KJV: “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him*

*CALL TO RECOGNITION: The recognition of God’s work as being from His finger calls believers to acknowledge His power and authority in their lives. The magicians in Egypt, albeit reluctantly, acknowledged God's hand in the plagues (Exodus 8:19). Similarly, believers are called to see God's hand in the world around them and in their personal experiences. PSALMS 92:4-5*

MONDAY 10 JUNE 2024

TITLE: THE FINGER OF GOD (PART 4)

KEY TEXT: Luke 11:20 KJV: “But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.”

JESUS’ MINISTRY CONFIRMED: Jesus’ reference to casting out demons by the "finger of God" (Luke 11:20) served to confirm His divine mission, and the presence of God's kingdom. This act was a powerful testament to His divine authority, demonstrating that His ministry was directly empowered by God, and was a fulfillment of divine prophecy. ACTS 10:38

REVELATION OF GOD'S CHARACTER: The metaphor of God's finger also reveals His character. It shows His personal involvement in His creation, His justice in dealing with sin, and His mercy in giving the Law. Each act associated with the "finger of God" illustrates a facet of His divine nature—His omnipotence, justice, and love. ISAIAH 46:9
