TITLE: ESCAPE THE FALSE PROPHETS TODAY

KEY TEXT: Matthew 7:15-20 KJV: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves… ”

FALSE PROPHETS DEFINED: False prophets are individuals who claim to speak on behalf of God but have their own agendas. They spread false teachings or messages while asserting to convey the Word of God. In the Bible, false prophets also represented false gods. They operated in their prophetic role unlawfully or with the intent to deceive. Christ warned us to watch out for these deceivers. Not only does Jesus caution us about the dangers of false prophets, but He also provides us with instructions on how to recognise them. Therefore, in identifying false prophets, examine the fruits they bear through their words and actions. Matthew 7:15-20

THEIR TRAITS: Unfortunately, in Christianity today, not everyone who claims to be of Christ is genuinely so. Some have infiltrated unnoticed with their own agendas. These individuals present themselves as servants of the Lord. They possess eloquent speech and can quote numerous Bible verses. They even perform remarkable miracles, using words that can persuade unsuspecting souls of their godliness. Some even proclaim to be preachers of holiness. However, their allegiance is not to Jesus Christ but to the enemy. 1 John 4:1

VIGILANCE: We must remain vigilant and on guard. If Satan can masquerade himself and his followers as ministering angels, then surely he can disguise himself as a false preacher. We must diligently seek ways to identify and avoid these false prophets who have infiltrated the body of Christ, appearing as wolves in sheep's clothing. Today, these false prophets are highly esteemed; they appear on television, radio stations, and everywhere else, deceiving and being deceived themselves. Complete vigilance is required in these end-times. Revelation 20:10

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, reveal to me any false prophets or teachers with whom I have knowingly or unknowingly entered an agreement with, leading to the destruction of my soul, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: 1 John 4:1 KJV: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
