TITLE: TOMORROW IS NOT GUARANTEED (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: John 9:4 KJV: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

Most people want God to bless them, and all their prayers are centered on their selfish interests: “God bless me, favor me, protect me, promote me, fight for me.” One would wonder if they are true followers of Jesus Christ and have read the account of Jesus Christ when He was on earth. Jesus Christ was mostly concerned about His Father’s work, doing all He saw His Father doing, hence, He could boldly say, "Father, glorify me, for I have glorified you." JOHN 17:4

When will you start asking God what you should do for Him? When will your prayer change from, "Bless me, O Lord", to "Use me, O Lord?" Jesus Christ said, "I will do the work of my Father while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work", but you are waiting for night to come before you start working for God. The year 2023 is going to end soon, what would you say you contributed to God’s Kingdom advancement this year? Or are you promising God that by 2024 you will start being fruitful and faithful? What if the rapture takes place before then? Wake up now. JOHN 15:16

Beloved of God, I counsel you to repent from praying selfishly. Stop praying for God to bless you, and start praying for God to tell you the work you have to do for Him. What will you tell God that you came to do on earth, if you die now and see yourself before the judgment seat? Maybe you will tell God you were able to get married and give birth to children, build a house and buy cars for yourself, expecting to be told, "Welcome, O good and faithful servant,” for being a rebel and selfish. Revelation 22:12

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me for forgetting that I will give an account of my stewardship after my time on earth. Open my eyes to know what I ought to do in this world for you, and help me to do it faithfully, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: Proverbs 13:4 KJV: “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”
