TITLE: BEWARE OF THE PLEASURES OF LIFE 

KEY TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 5:6 KJV, “But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.”

Studies and experience have made it clear that human beings are at their most vulnerable state during the time of pleasure and comfort. Man has the nature of being vigilant when faced with pressure, challenges, and difficulties in life. No wonder God, in His great wisdom, would always allow His children to face some challenges. These challenges are not to punish them, but it is a form of wake up call. Most vibrant believers of yesterday suddenly became lukewarm and ineffective, because they were living in pleasure, which led many to start living in past glory. REVELATION 2:5 KJV

THE ENEMY IS WAITING AT THE DOOR OF PLEASURE: There are temptations that Satan will not bring to one during one’s wilderness experience. The devil knows what you will not have time for at that very point in time. Every temptation comes in consonance with the situation on ground. Satan knew David would not look at a woman while running for his dear life, so he prepared Bathsheba for him during his state of rest as king and David was brought down without much stress from Satan. 1 Peter 5:8 KJV

DON'T PRAY YOURSELF OUT OF YOUR DEFENSE: It is good to pray to God when going through situations, but be careful to ask God the reason for the situation before praying to come out of it, because many souls have prayed themselves into bondage and hellfire. Some believers prayed themselves into jobs, marriage, position, etc., that took their salvation from them. Many believers are trapped in comfort zones that only the grace of God will save them from hellfire. Thank God for Joseph who didn't succumb to satan's offer to come out of pressure into damnation (Genesis 39:7-10). Beloved of God, please be vigilant and seek God's face in all things. LAMENTATIONS 3:25 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, please grant me the grace to understand the reason for every situation that comes my way, so that I don't pray my way into eternal damnation in the quest for comfort, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition” (1 TIMOTHY 6:9 KJV).
