 TITLE: REMEMBER YOUR FIRST LOVE (PART 4)

 KEY TEXT: Joshua 22:5 KJV, “But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

 Many believers used to rejoice over the Word of God when it came to them those days, but today, they are fighting it. They need to go back to their first love. Some of us are struggling with things that we could easily overcome before. Previously, when something came up in Church for you to do, you would be the first to take it up, but now even if they talk and talk, your heart is now hardened. You even regret what you did before thinking they manipulated you. Romans 6:17 KJV

 Things are now being destroyed in the house of your Father and you do not care anymore, whereas before, you would be enthusiastic to suggest what could be changed. Those days you used to live as if you were the only person in the Church and did not care to know who was doing or not doing what. The problem is that you think you are now mature in Christ. Remember those days when the church was far from you, you had no car, but you joyfully trekked with your family to church. Now that God has blessed you with a car, you have become lazy to even go to Church. Haggai 1:9 KJV

 Those days, you could make sure that you had data, even if it meant that you borrowed to listen to Bible Study. You could go to work and despite how tired you were, you would still manage to listen to the Word of God. But now, even at your leisure, the Word of God is now burdensome and the things of God have become a burden to you. All you are doing is making excuses and writing apologies, stating that you will not attend services. Those excuses were there before, but you could still manage to create time for God because you loved the presence of God. God is saying, “Remember from whence you have fallen and repent.” Psalm 119:40

 PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, please forgive me for neglecting your work and your commandments. Stir up my spirit to labour faithfully in your house, as you did to Zerubbabel, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

 REFLECTION: “And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God” (Haggai 1:14 KJV).
