TITLE: YOU CAN OVERCOME THAT SIN

KEY TEXT: “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1 KJV).

I do not know the sin that is giving Satan joy over your soul. Maybe Satan has settled in his heart that you have missed Heaven already, and the demons are waiting eagerly in hell to torment you. They understand that the wages of sin is death, and they see you not laying aside the weight of that sin besetting you. Hebrews 4:15 KJV

YOU ARE NOT ALONE: My beloved in Christ, you have to fight the sin that is easily besetting you. Do not relax, thinking you are the only one struggling with that sin or settle in that sin, thinking God will understand and have mercy on you in the end. Confess and forsake it. There are many clouds of witnesses waiting to tell you how they overcame worse sins and trials than the one you are seeing as an impossible mountain to climb. 1 Corinthians 6:18 KJV 

TAKE SIN AS IT IS: Most believers do not know the consequences of dying in sin. Sin is destructive and damnable, and no sin is too little to be friendly to the soul. All sins are an enemy to man. It is a pity that many people do not see sin as an enemy, or else they would have cried to God for the grace to overcome instead of trying to work things out with their carnal minds. You can overcome that temptation and recurring sin if truly you love your soul and sincerely cry to God for help. James 4:7 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me for ever thinking I could not overcome the sin that easily besets me. I lay aside every weight of sin today, trusting the Holy Spirit to help me hold on to the life of holiness till the end, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV).
