TITLE: THE POWER OF ENCOURAGING WORDS 

KEY TEXT: “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works” (Hebrews 10:24 KJV).

So many people who became great in life were at one point at the junction of calling it quits in life. A lot of great people today thought of committing suicide, but they were encouraged by some not to give up and that there was hope for them. There is no height one cannot attain in life when there is a force of encouragement in place. Apostle Peter and the other disciples were able to follow Jesus Christ and establish the Church from their weak backgrounds because of the encouragement they received from Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was always telling Peter that he could do it; hence, He injected boldness to lead in Peter who became persistent. Proverbs 12:25 KJV

THERE IS POWER IN ENCOURAGEMENT: I sat, reflecting on some things that happened during the night vigil, then I heard the Lord say to me that there is no mountain or height the people He gave to me as labourers in the ministry cannot climb or go with me, if I keep encouraging them. He added that all we needed was to cultivate the habit of encouraging one another. There is no level of progress a family cannot make if couples are in the habit of encouraging one another. Most wives are not able to do anything because the husband is not motivated, and most wives have a lot to contribute to the family, but the discouraging words from the man of the house would not let them. Proverbs 27:17 KJV 

BE A SOURCE OF ENCOURAGEMENT: I almost gave up when I was in University, but a word from my girlfriend (who later became my wife and the mother of our wonderful children) brought back hope to me. I was telling her how bad things were for me. No uncle was ready to help me, but she said that all she could see was a wealthy man and a man full of the glory of God who does not need to depend on uncles to make it in life. I felt strength from the inside while she was talking, and I began to see myself differently from that time. Do not let your words discourage people, but rather let your words bring light into people's lives. I do not know the situation of the reader of this message. I tell you, do not give up, but keep hope alive. You will sing a new song of victory soon to the glory of God. Ecclesiastes 4:9 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me, in any way my words have discouraged anyone from doing what he or she could have done if I had encouraged him or her. From now on, I receive the grace to be a source of hope and light to everyone who comes my way, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Colossians 3:16 KJV).
