WHAT IS YOUR AIM IN SERVING GOD?

Oct 07 2022

APOSTLE EMMANUEL OSEZELE'S GOSPEL OUTREACH

MSRPM DAILY DIVINE INSPIRATION

FRI 07 OCT 2022

TITLE: WHAT IS YOUR AIM IN SERVING GOD?

KEY TEXT: “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple” (Psalm 27:4 KJV).

David was the greatest king who reigned in Israel, yet he knew that there was a place far better than the throne he occupied. That was why he could say that his utmost desire was to seek the Lord and dwell in His presence forever. But unlike the days of David, once people get settled in a place or position, they never care if tomorrow exists. Even though David was rich, he looked beyond his riches and understood that there was a place every wise and reasonable person should seek after. It is written: “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.” Can you, the reader of this message, boldly say that you are seeking God? Psalm 14:2 KJV

IT IS ONLY THE WISE WHO KNOW THE NEEDFUL: “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good” (Psalm 14:1 KJV). How can someone who says that God does not exist know there is a place to be desired or sought after? It takes wisdom to know that this world is a dirty place and there is a place up there to be desired. It is ants’ wisdom that makes them gather food in the summer for the winter. The Word of God said, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above… ,” and it also said, “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:1-3 KJV). This can only happen when one is genuinely born again and he or she is a seeker of Heaven, but most believers are running after earthly pleasures. It is written: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 KJV

LOOK BEYOND THAT POSITION: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2 KJV). It is a pity that many of today's professing believers, including the majority of so-called men of God, do not desire to seek God’s Kingdom. All that most Christians are after is how to get miracles, signs, and wonders; they never care about eternity. And as long as certain “men of god” can buy jets, own houses everywhere, and get tithes and offerings from their members, they are okay. Suffering for Christ is not in the agenda of most of these microwave-Christians of today. Why? Because they are only aiming at the perishable things of this world. Beloved in Christ, now that you still have life, can you set your scale of preference correctly and make Heaven your utmost desire before it is too late? “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me, in any way I have not made Heaven my aim. Please give me the grace to desire Heaven more than anything else from now on, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable” (1 Corinthians 15:19 KJV).
