TITLE: SALVATION IN CHRIST, THE GREATEST BLESSING.

KEY TEXT: "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered" (Psalm 32:1 KJV).

Many Christians all over the world, including unbelievers, have at one point proclaimed “I am blessed.” They refer to this statement when talking about the good things that happened to them. For example, receiving a job or promotion, giving birth to children, buying cars or houses, etc. These are all blessings indeed that God has given to believers and unbelievers alike, but is that all that is to God's blessings? Believers of this age hardly count salvation as a blessing when they begin to speak of the things that God has done for them. It may be because those who state they are believers never received salvation from Jesus Christ, and they are there for temporary, tangible blessings. You will know a person who has received salvation and appreciates it when all he or she does (by the grace of God) is to flee from every appearance of sin. Romans 6:22 KJV

WHO ARE THE BLESSED? Beloved, if you carefully read the Word of God, you will realise that the people God calls “blessed” are those who walk in godly ways (Psalms 1:1), those whose sins are forgiven (Psalms 32:1), those who trust in the Lord (Jeremiah 17:7) and so forth. It is never said that blessed are those who buy lands and houses, have many children and live well on earth with no hope of eternity. Only those who have repented of their sins received forgiveness from Jesus Christ, and the grace to live holy as God is holy can truly appreciate the great blessing of salvation. David, the king of Israel, was blessed in every area of life, in all the battles he fought and won, all the riches he acquired, and all the honour he received from other kingdoms. Yet, he acknowledged there was a much greater blessing than all his achievements. That is why he stated, “Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity.” A blessed person is he whose sin God does not count against them. In other words, a blessed person is one that is saved from sin. (Psalms 32:2KJV)

SALVATION IS THE GREATEST BLESSING OF ALL: This is because its benefits can be enjoyed in this life and in eternity, unlike the physical blessings man likes to hold onto tightly. Through salvation, one is made godly and we are meant to understand that godliness is profitable unto all things, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:8 KJV). Have your sins been forgiven and are you living right in the sight of God? If not, you are under the curse of sin, no matter how many physical blessings you possess. Repent by receiving the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 KJV

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, please forgive me for not valuing your costly gift of salvation. Help me to cherish the salvation you have given me by working it out with fear and trembling, so that my soul may be saved at the end, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: "And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God" (Revelation 19:9 KJV).
