Topic: Preferring Darkness Over Light
Key Text: John 3:19 - KJV And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

No human being in his or her right senses would prefer to stay in darkness while light is available. Just as an insane person would watch the road carefully before crossing in order not to be knocked down by a vehicle, so he or she would see darkness and run to the light. Why is it that those who say they are well and sound in mind are not able to see darkness and run away, or see a dangerous moving vehicle and run away from the road? John 12:40 KJV

Men Prefer Death Over Life: It is written that the light (LIFE) has come, but men loved darkness (DEATH) and are now adapted to it (SIN). It's surprising to know that someone would know that he or she is living in sin, which would lead to death, and eventually end up in hellfire. But sadly, those in such a category would still want to keep enjoying the motion of the temporary pleasure, not knowing they are indirectly eating up their souls. Jesus Christ came to save mankind because He saw the pain and anguish those in hellfire are going through, but many souls are still heading to hellfire voluntarily. John 3:18 KJV 

What Would You Gain? What would you tell your soul if you die and find yourself in hellfire after a few years of pleasure in iniquity you enjoyed while on earth? The first thing you will remember is the bright light Jesus brought your way and you decided to follow darkness. You would remember the message you heard that would have saved you, but you turned it down. You would also remember the things you enjoyed on earth that you'll never see again in your eternal pain. The only endpoint for all sinners is hellfire. The choice is yours. Romans 6:23 KJV 

Prayer: O Lord, have mercy on me in any way I have seen the light but preferred darkness, knowingly or unknowingly. Please, give me the grace to follow the light I have found in you until you come to take me home, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

Reflection: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Matthew 13:15 KJV
