Topic: The Vanity Of Man's Desire
Key Text: Colossians 3:1-2 KJV - If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitted on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on the things on the earth.

Looking at the nature of the world today, if a census was to be conducted to know the desires of the people, one would find out that about 99% of the world's population, including the Christian population will wish for things that have no eternal value. It may surprise you that only a very few will say they desire to do the will of God and to meet with the Lord Jesus Christ in holiness. Many Christians will not even mention heaven or the rapture as their utmost priority. So sad that this is the world of today, where the desires of man is vain and centred only around this world and its passing away riches. Matthew 24:2 KJV

The Things You Live And Die For Won't Die For You: The Bible has already forewarned us about laying up treasures in this world because where one's treasure is, there the desires of his or her heart will be. One can only live and die for what he or she desires. Today, many are living and dying for things that will only send their souls to hellfire. Those who live for their wealth, die seeking to maintain the status quo or even trying to go higher. What a waste if all is done without Jesus Christ! You can only die for what you love. Recently, a famous Ivorian singer just had an accident and was pronounced dead on the same bike he had pledged his love for. What about you? Don't let your love for the things of this world send you to an everlasting place of unbearable pain and torment. Matthew 6:19-21 KJV

Everything Shall Pass Away: The world and everything in it, including you shall pass away with the exception of the Word of God. The same Word of God you don't want to hear will stand to judge you after you must have passed away from this world that you love so much on to eternity beyond. Then you will realize how important the Word of life you had neglected, now standing right before you to judge you against the worthless things you pursued while on earth. Beloved, the Bible has categorically warned everyone to seek first the Kingdom of God, but you are busy seeking other things first. You are warned! Repent now that you have the time and seek the righteousness of God before it's too late. Matthew 6:33 KJV

Prayer: O Lord, please help me to desire the Word of life for the saving of my soul, which was the reason you died on the cross of Calvary, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

Reflection: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:36-37 KJV
