TITLE: CONSEQUENCES OF PRIDEFUL ATTITUDE

KEY TEXT: Isaiah 23:9 KJV: “The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.”

It's often said that anything that has advantages equally has disadvantages, but I have concluded that pride has no positive side. The end of any prideful conduct is always shame and humiliation. The following are some endpoints of prideful conduct:

1. ISOLATION: Pride can lead to a sense of superiority, causing individuals to distance themselves from those they perceive as inferior.

2. CONFLICT: Pride often fuels disagreements and conflicts, as individuals may refuse to backdown or compromise due to their inflated sense of self-importance. PHILIPPIANS 2:3

3. STAGNATION: Pride can hinder personal growth and development, thus preventing individuals from acknowledging their weaknesses or seeking help when needed. JAMES 4:6

4. BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS: Prideful behavior can strain relationships, as it may be difficult for individuals to apologize, forgive, or admit fault.

5. MISSED OPPORTUNITIES: Pride can blind individuals to opportunities for collaboration or improvement, as they may believe they don't need assistance or input from others. PROVERBS 16:5

6. UNFLEXIBILITY: Prideful individuals may resist change or alternative perspectives, limiting their ability to adapt to new situations or ideas.

7. UNFULFILLED POTENTIAL: Pride can lead to complacency or a reluctance to take risks, preventing individuals from reaching their full potential.

8. LACK OF EMPATHY: Prideful individuals may struggle to empathize with others or understand their perspectives, leading to a lack of compassion and understanding.

9. LONELINESS: Pride can contribute to feelings of loneliness or alienation, as individuals may struggle to form meaningful connections with others due to their arrogant demeanor.

10. SELF-DESTRUCTION: In extreme cases, unchecked pride can lead to self-destructive behaviors, as individuals prioritize their ego over their well-being or long-term goals. PROVERBS 11:2

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, am sorry for all the prideful conduct I have ever exhibited. I repent of all my sins. Let the consequences of my sins be wiped away from my record, and deliver me from the spirit of pride, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: LEVITICUS 26:19 KJV: “And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass.”
