TITLE: ASKING FOR WHAT YOU CANNOT GIVE

KEY TEXT: Luke 6:38 KJV, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”


One common and major problem with humanity today is the selfish and self-centered mindset of people. A majority of people today expect to be given what they cannot give to others. Most men on the pulpits with the title “man of God” want their Church members to give them what they cannot give to anyone. It is amazing to see so-called pastors laying emphasis on their birthdays, (even doing birthday flyers) expecting the congregation to send birthday gifts, when they themselves do not care if the members were born on a certain day like them. It is not surprising to see most men on the pulpits manifesting the wicked, enslaving, and selfish spirits of King Pharaoh and King Herod. PHILIPPIANS 2:4 KJV 

CULTIVATE THE HEART OF GIVING: Some believers could spend hours praying, asking God for blessings. They go for days on prayer mountains, asking God to bless them. How many go on fasting or prayer mountains to ask God of what they would give to others, or how they could become a blessing to others? It is written in Acts 20:35 that it is more blessed to give than to receive. No one get rewarded in Heaven for what he or she received on earth. Rewards are given to Saints in Heaven for what they gave to others while on earth. God is not moved by what was given to you, but by what you gave out to bless others. ACTS 10:31 KJV

GIVING IS THE HEARTBEAT OF GOD: God demonstrated His nature by giving His only Son to be the propitiation for our sins. You cannot claim God is your Father when you are waiting until all the money in the bank become yours before you start giving to support others. Giving should not only be monetarily; there are different ways one could be a blessing to others. Start thinking of how to be a blessing to your generation than how you will be a burden to your generation. You must be genuinely born again for your good deeds to be recognized and rewarded by God. JAMES 4:17 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me for mostly praying to receive. I want to be a blessing to my generation and a light to brighten others henceforth, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (HEBREWS 13:16 KJV).
