TITLE: KNOWING GOD THROUGH LOVE

KEY TEXT: 1 John 4:8 KJV, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”


I wonder how our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, is seeing His Church or His children who profess to know Him with all the hatred in their hearts against one another. I sometimes wonder where the Church of today came from. It calls for questioning if this is the Church that Jesus Christ established in love and truth. A Church where even the men of God cannot freely eat and drink together, except those who are in the same secret cult, having blood oaths never to hurt one another and pretending to be working for God. COLOSSIANS 3:14 KJV

LOVE IS THE KEY: How can one prove to know God when there is no love in his or her heart for others? How do you present Jesus Christ to people without love? How do you pray to God with hatred and unforgiveness in your heart? How can you be planning evil against someone and still claim to be a child of God, the Father of love? Oh, no! You are not a child of God, but of your father, the devil. John 8:44 KJV 

GO BACK TO THE ROOT: The root of the Christian faith is love: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son....” (John 3:16). The foundation of salvation is LOVE. It is a pity that the people of the world seem to love themselves than the children of God. But what good would love without salvation do for anyone?! Love without Christ in one’s life is wickedness before God. Anyone who refuses Jesus Christ is condemned, regardless of his or her claim of love. Anyone who wants to serve God and have eternal rest at last in Heaven must have the mind of Christ, which is love and kindness void of hypocrisy. PHILIPPIANS 2:5 KJV


PRAYER: O Lord, my God, please have mercy and forgive me for ever claiming to know you and being born again without the corresponding love of Christ in my heart. I repent today. Let the seed of your love be planted in my heart and in the heart of my brethren all over the world, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” (JOHN 13:34 KJV).
