TITLE: THE CRIPPLED WATCHMEN

KEY TEXT: Ezekiel 33:2 KJV, “Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman.”

Many want to answer or bear the title ‘watchman’ like Prophet Ezekiel, Jeremiah, etc. Not everyone carrying the title actually knows the meaning. Who is a watchman? A watchman is someone commissioned or ordained by God to watch over his flock or vineyard. It could also literally mean someone who watches over something, like people, building, company, etc. However, I am talking about a watchman who watches over the flock of God in the context of this message. It is unfortunate that the majority of today's watchmen who are sent by God to watch over His children have become greedy, deaf, dumb, and blind, hence, they cannot see, hear, nor speak anymore. They now manipulate what they are saying to the children of God. Most of them cannot even watch over themselves, and do not know what is happening around them, not to talk of watching over the children of God because of greediness. It is so sad that the devil has succeeded in making them ineffective. ISAIAH 53:10 KJV.

THE SWORD IS DEVOURING GOD’S FLOCK: Many so-called watchmen, pastors, overseers, are no longer seeing the sword coming, and can no longer recognize the sword even when they see one. Some who can still see the sword are no longer bold to warn the flock about it because of greediness, while some are busy doing nothing. The sword is already at the altar of many churches of today, yet both the pastors and members are blind that they cannnot see the sword of hell revolving round them. Some watchmen are seeing the sword coming but are refusing to speak or blow the trumpet about it. Why? Because the things of this world have shut up their mouths. They are more interested in satisfying their fleshly lusts than saving the souls in their care. EZEKIEL 33:6 KJV

Every true watchman is commissioned to warn the people of the impending judgment and show the people the way out of eternal damnation.
Every right and heaven-bound watchman’s ears are supposed to be fixed on the mouth of God who commissioned them. But many today are telling the people what they think is good for them, speaking as they are moved by the gift received. Most of today's pastors garnish the word of God without saying it how God wants, by so doing, accommodating the people in sin, so as not to lose their members from the church, but eventually losing them to hellfire. The message of any genuine watchman is supposed to be a warning, always letting the people know the truth and the consequences of sinning wilfully. EZEKIEL 3:17 KJV

PRAYER: Lord Jesus,  grant me the grace to blow my own trumpet and to work out my salvation with fear and trembling, in Jesus Christ’s Mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter” (ISAIAH 56:11 KJV).
