*TITLE: A CONTRITE AND HUMBLE SPIRIT IS DEMANDED (PART 3)*

*KEY TEXT: Psalm 51:12-13 KJV: “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 -Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.”*

*A Christian with a contrite spirit has no pleasure in going back to the sin he/she has confessed and forgiven of. They will always strive to seek the face of God and to overcome sin. The humbleness of heart will always put you in check, but when you have a proud heart, you will say that sin does not matter, just like the Pharisees. 2 Chronicles 32:26*

*Christians of a contrite heart have feelings of regret and remorse. The God we serve is a holy God and hates sin, no matter how small you may describe it. 2 Chronicles 7:14 states, “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray.” Note the word 'if'. God does not force Himself on anyone, but desires that we yield to Him to take the first place in our hearts. James 4:6*

*Everyone claims to be a friend of God, but are you so humble in spirit as to obey the Word of God? Are you so humble that you live the way God says you should live? Or are you reluctant to obey for the sake of your comfort? Humbleness made Moses to know God as a friend while the rest of Israel only knew His acts. One with a proud heart, lacking humbleness will always justify their wicked works. A contrite spirit puts on the garment of servanthood. Luke 16:15-16*

*PRAYER: Almighty Father, grant me a broken and contrite spirit so that when I call, You will answer, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.*

*REFLECTION: Hosea 5:5 KJV: “And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.”*
