TITLE: THE PROOF OF BEING BORN AGAIN IS DEMANDED 

KEY TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 KJV, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

The conviction and desire of a true, born-again Christian should be the constant hunger to please God in all that he or she does. I have seen believers preaching and writing about being born again, but they themselves do not have the fear of God to run away from sin. No one can convincingly say that he or she is born again without the corresponding fear of God in him or her. The fear of God is the driving force that chases sin far from a man. Some believers want to be seen as born again when there is no proof of the old things being passed away and all things becoming new in their lives. Being born again is not about writing, preaching, or singing it. It is about living daily in the fear and obedience of God’s Word. Matthew 5:6 KJV 

HUNGER AND THIRST TO PLEASE GOD: Everyone born into this world is in one way or another hungry for something. As a Christian, what do you hunger for daily? I do not know what your answer is, but I could show you what Jesus Christ said we should hunger and thirst for. It is written, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6 KJV). Can you now see that the hunger for fame, power, riches, position, recognition, etc., are of the flesh? When you seek and hunger for true holiness and righteousness, everything one needs to enjoy life on earth will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 KJV

THE TRUE PROOF OF BEING A CHRISTIAN: Anyone could easily say that he or she is a Christian. But if anyone claims to be a Christian and does not seek to please God in holiness, then his or her claim is vain and fruitless. This means that such a believer needs to be truly converted in his or her heart, and if otherwise he or she is genuinely converted and is now in a backslidden state, he or she needs to urgently repent and return to the first love. A true Christian is one who fears God, runs from sin, strives daily to be holy, desires Heaven, and loves to walk with God in spirit and in truth at all times. Are you such a believer? Do you have a solid foundation of being born again genuinely? Many claim to be born again because they came out one day in a program and said a simple prayer of: “Lord Jesus, come into my heart.” It is much more than that. Colossians 3:1-3 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me and forgive me if I have been deceiving myself, claiming to be born again. I repent today. Please, grant me the spirit to hunger and thirst after true holiness and righteousness from now on, as I journey to Heaven, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God” (PSALM 42:1 KJV).
