TITLE: REST, WAIT, AND FOCUS ON GOD

KEY TEXT: "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass" (Psalm 37:7 KJV).

God wants His children to see Him as the only solution. He loves to be seen for who He is; He is the first and the last, the beginning and the ending. God hates when His children see Him as an alternative to something. He does not want to be seen as one of many ways but the only way; hence, anyone waiting on Him is expected to wait patiently and focus on Him. Psalm 37:14 KJV

WAITING BUT NOT FOCUSING ON GOD: Many believers actually think they are waiting on God just because they go to church, attend different programs, or buy all kinds of spiritual materials that so-called men of God do spiritual rituals on for "solutions" to their problems. Many go to witchdoctors while waiting on God. The instruction says, “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently on him.” Many profess to be waiting on God while their hearts are not completely resting in Him. Patience has no place in their lives. Many are complaining that they have been waiting on God for years when they have been jumping up and down like butterflies. How can one be joining all kinds of spirits from different altars together and expect God to show up in his or her case? Isaiah 40:31 KJV

LEARN TO BE STABLE WITH GOD: We are admonished by the Word of God to stay in God and wait patiently. The time of waiting is not to be used for complaining and murmuring. It is a time to engage God in prayer and do all you can do in His true vineyard. One cannot sit and do nothing, go about his or her personal business and neglect the work of God, or think that he or she is waiting on God by troubling Him with his or her problems, sending prayer requests anywhere the name of Jesus Christ is mentioned. You do not wait on God by comparing yourself with those you think have gone ahead of you. Trust God and wait patiently for Him in prayer. God will surely show up and glorify Himself in your life if you do not faint. Psalm 37:34 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me, in any way I have been waiting on you the wrong way. Have mercy on me, and give me the grace to follow the principle of waiting on you, as I keep trusting and praying, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry" (Habakkuk 2:3 KJV).
