TITLE: GOD'S REBUKE AND CHASTISEMENT FOR YOUR ULTIMATE GOOD

KEY TEXT: Hebrews 12:11 KJV: “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”

YOUR ATTITUDE: What is your attitude towards chastisement? Are you learning from your correction or taking undue offense? Has God chastised you openly? It’s better to be chastised openly on earth than to be chastised openly in hell. It is better to ask God to correct us than to ignore our faults, leading to our downfall. There are those whom God takes seriously by reproving and showing their sin, and those who, through disobedience, God has determined to be unruly, watching from afar. Psalms 94:12

CHASTISED BY THE FATHER: God is our heavenly Father, and we are His children, whom He loves dearly. As children, we may sometimes err, slip up, and break His commandments. In all of this, God, as a loving Father, chastises and reproves us for our wrongdoings. His chastening is meant to correct us and awaken us to ensure that we do not return to that sin, thereby preventing us from going to a place we did not intend to, which is hellfire. Proverbs 3:11-12

CHASTISED BY LOVE: Whom God loves, he chastises. Whom God loves, he warns. Whom God loves, he reproves. Do not think that the Christian journey is always easy and sweet as honey? Rather, know that God, as our parent, will chastise us when necessary. This doesn't make Him any less of a loving God; it only emphasizes His love. As we see in Hebrews 12:10, "....but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness." (Hebrews 12:10)

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to endure your divine chastisement, and help me to understand that your chastisement is not unto my destruction but ultimately for the safety of my soul, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: Job 5:17 KJV: “Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:”
