TITLE: IDENTITY WORTH PROTECTING

KEY TEXT: “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12 KJV).

Not every believer understands what it means to be born again and having the original image and likeness of God that was lost being restored. I have heard people say that they have the reputation of their family to protect, but how many believers actually know that they have a glorious image and likeness of God in them to protect? The majority of believers are not aware of the value God has placed on them. Most believers who deliberately indulge in immorality and worldliness are not aware of the extent to which sin could damage their glorious identity. Every true child of God possesses the nature of God, which is pure and holy. Christians are identified in the Bible as a royal priesthood and a holy nation. This simply means that Christians are of the royal family of Heaven; hence, they have a glorious identity to protect. 1 Peter 1:13 KJV 

YOU ARE A SPECIAL PERSON: Are you a genuine, born again Christian? If yes, then you are a peculiar person. Being physically poor or rich does not matter, because you have what the richest unbeliever does not have. What God has given you cannot be bought or sold. It may interest you to know that the material riches of a man does not determine his peculiarity. Your spiritual riches cannot be qualified by anything on earth. The richest people on earth are not genuinely born again. Some are even enemies of God. Do not measure your value as a child of God by the material possessions of others. Your peculiarity is the life of Christ in you. The life of Jesus Christ is a holy life, and a Christian must equally be holy to identify with such a life. Christians are left with no alternative than to live in holiness and true righteousness to showcase their peculiarity in Christ .1 Corinthians 2:6 KJV 

MAKE YOUR DIFFERENCE CLEAR: Even though Peter and John were not learned like the theologians and those who had given themselves titles that are not relevant to God, the Sadducees and High Priests recognized them as men who had been with Jesus Christ, because they boldly represented Jesus Christ (Acts 4:13). Do you really understand what the Bible means when it says that Christians are called out of darkness? It means you are separated from sin as a child of God. What makes you a call-out when you are still doing those things unbelievers do? For instance, you speak the way they speak, dress the way they dress, even get involved in dubious businesses with them. It is written: "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." You must define your stand and identify as a true believer. 2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV 

PRAYER: My Father, my God, please forgive me, in any way I have not been living up to your expectations as a child of the royal family of Heaven. Please, grant me the grace to preserve my identity in holiness and true righteousness, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16 KJV).
