TITLE: DO NOT TRADE YOUR SOUL FOR TEMPORARY GAIN

KEY TEXT: "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:26 KJV).

Many professing Christians are like the mixed multitude that came out of Egypt with Moses. The mixed multitude only left Egypt bodily, but their hearts and spirits were left behind. That was why they always wanted to go back to Egypt to eat fish, cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic that they had eaten for over four hundred years in sorrow and slavery (Numbers 11:4-5). Most Christians’ minds are in the world; they could take anything in place for their salvation. But how long does one have to live on earth to gamble with his or her soul? My heart bleeds for the unstableness of believers when I remember how fast time flies and how quickly this life could pass away. How many years does one have to live on this earth? When can one ever say that he or she is satisfied with whatever the world has offered him or her? How much labour can one render to satisfy the flesh? What is the gain of possessing all the possessions if not for the eyes to behold? Ecclesiastes 1:3 KJV

ONLY THE SPIRITUAL WILL UNDERSTAND: The carnal man will never understand what the spirit is saying to the Church, but only the true children of God who are led by the Spirit will understand (Romans 8:14). The natural man, irrespective of the fame, security, wealth, position, and possession that he or she has, is in Satan’s cage. No amount of wealth can give one the desired joy in life without having the fear of losing it all in death. A natural man could kill to keep himself alive, but how long would he do that? The death he or she is running from is certain. Hebrews 9:27 KJV

PUT YOUR SALVATION AND THE SAFETY OF YOUR SOUL FIRST: Lots of souls in hell, who once valued their possessions more than their own souls, only realised how foolish they were while on earth, pursuing wealth at the expense of their own souls. Many who forsook Jesus Christ for the things of this world, died, and nothing followed them into eternity. Beloved, thank God you and I are still alive to choose our eternal home. We have but a short time to stay in this world, then face eternity. Wisdom demands that we should be content with what we have and do all we can to secure our souls for eternal life. Have you given your life to Jesus Christ? Do so now if your answer is no. John 3:18 KJV

PRAYER: My Father and my God, have mercy on me, in any way I have lived at the expense of my soul. I repent of my sins and give up whatever will make me enjoy this world and end up in hell, as I receive the grace to live for eternity in Heaven, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: "And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind?" (Ecclesiastes 5:16 KJV).
