TITLE: THE CONCEPT OF BEING BORN AGAIN

KEY TEXT: Romans 10:9 KJV: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Being born again is a central theme in the teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It signifies a spiritual rebirth that is distinct from our physical birth, which leads to eternal life. Jesus explained this to Nicodemus, saying, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (JOHN 3:3).

BORN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT: To be born again, one must be born of water and the Spirit. Jesus clarified this when He said, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:5). This emphasizes the necessity of spiritual transformation for salvation. ROMANS 6:23

FLESH VS.SPIRIT: The difference between physical birth and spiritual birth is profound. Jesus told Nicodemus, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit" (John 3:6). This highlights the distinction between our natural state and the new life given by the Holy Spirit to anyone who genuinely surrenders to Jesus Christ, accepting Him as his or her Savior and Lord. ROMANS 8:1-2

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me if my salvation was not built on a solid foundation. I surrender to your lordship today. Live and reign in me, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: 1 Peter 1:23 KJV: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
