TITLE: THE CONCEPT OF RESTITUTION (PART 3)

KEY TEXT: Hebrews 12:14 KJV: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”

Restitution brings peace and reconciliation, both with God and people. In Matthew 5:23-24, Jesus teaches, "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift." This instruction emphasizes that reconciliation, which often involves restitution, is a prerequisite for true worship and fellowship with God. PSALM 5:12

Moreover, restitution reflects God’s character and His desire for us to live in harmony with one another. Colossians 3:13 encourages us to forgive as we have been forgiven, saying, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye." Forgiveness and restitution go hand in hand, as restoring what has been lost or damaged helps rebuild trust and heal wounds. JAMES 5:16

In conclusion, restitution is a biblical principle that requires us to take responsibility for our actions and make things right. It is an expression of justice, repentance, and a desire to live in accordance with God’s will. As we follow the teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and make restitution where it is needed, we reflect God’s righteousness and contribute to a world where justice and peace prevail. ROMANS 12:18

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy upon Christians who do not believe the doctrine of restitution, and give them understanding so that they could make their ways right before you and man by doing their restitution, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: Ezekiel 33:15 KJV: “If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.”
