TITLE: LOVE IS RECIPROCAL 

KEY TEXT: “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12 KJV).

Most children of God today see love as a one-sided thing. Many want to receive what they cannot give out. Some brethren complain that their pastors are not caring or the leader in their department does not care about them, because they do not call to ask after them. How many times have they called the pastor to check on him and his family? Maybe the only time they called the man of God is to complain or request for prayer. The Bible said that we should care for one another; it is not one-sided. Husband and wife must love and care for each other, friends must learn to care for one another, and brethren must learn to care for their pastors as they wish the men of God to care for them (even though most men of God today only know how to milk their members, not caring for their wellbeing and for their souls). The key text of today's message marks the bedrock of true and genuine love. Until one is able to put others in his or her place, he or she does not have the mind of Christ. Holiness starts from knowing to put others in your place. 1 Peter 2:17 KJV 

LET LOVE START WITH YOU: Many claim to love God when they have no love for their fellow human being. How can Apostle Emmanuel Osezele say that he loves the church members if he cannot love his wife and immediate family? How can I preach the love of God or love for one another to the congregation if my siblings, parents, in-laws, and relatives cannot get love from me? Charity begins at home. How can you prove your love for God if you find it joyful seeing others in tears and sorrow? The mind of Jesus Christ in a believer is what makes him or her a true, born-again child of God. 1 Corinthians 2:16, 1 John 4:20 KJV 

LOVE AND SEE OTHERS AS YOURSELF: No one can genuinely walk with God if he or she does not know how to place himself or herself in other people's situations. Jesus Christ was always moved with compassion, seeing how those suffering came to Him during His time on earth. All the miracles He performed were as a result of the compassionate love He had for the people, unlike most men of God today, whose prophecies, miracles, and charitable works are propelled by their selfish agenda to make money or draw the gullible people to themselves. It is written: “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works” (Hebrews 10:24 KJV). We are to love and consider others in all things. Beloved of God, learn to love, pray, and care for others if you wish to be loved and cared for by others. Hebrews 12:3 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy and forgive me, in any way I have been selfish, thinking only about myself and taking others as nothing. Let the mind of Christ be given to me today, as I make up my mind to see others as myself from now on, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal” (1 Corinthians 13:1 KJV).
