TITLE: HOW CONCRETE IS YOUR DECISION TO FOLLOW CHRIST?

KEY TEXT: “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23 KJV).

Not everyone comes to Jesus Christ with the purpose of taking up his or her cross to follow Him daily. Most people came to Jesus Christ so they can enjoy pleasure, being idle, and partying, which is seen in most churches today. Some see the church as a place where people gather to listen to one's encouraging words every Sunday. Most men of God do not even understand the concept of the cross; they cannot give what they do not have to their members. Those who made up their minds to carry their crosses must understand that we are living in a very critical time. It is a time when almost everything is calling for one's attention to sin and transgress against God. The Bible refers to this as the perilous times. Romans 8:18 KJV

READY TO BEAR AFFLICTION AND TRIBULATION: Affliction is a common thing or a way of life for those who have made up their minds to carry the cross and follow Jesus Christ. The Word of God advises believers to continue in the faith and that they must through much tribulation enter the Kingdom of God (Acts 14:22). It is written that the love of many shall wax cold. This is a time when evil is being celebrated, and righteousness has become a thing of the past in most churches. We are in a time when the mighty ones in faith are falling so easily. Matthew 24:12 KJV

MAKE THE PAINFUL BUT GAINFUL DECISION NOW: Beloved, we have come to the point where everyone has to make the uncommon, critical decision to follow the Lord in spirit and truth, regardless of situations and conditions. You have to choose either to stand out or stand in because there is no room for sitting on the fence. Are you still contemplating what to decide? The mind of God concerning you is that you must stand out in holiness since you cannot fit into the rebellious, sinful, and wicked system of this dying world. Others might comfortably live in iniquity, but definitely not you who hopes to be welcomed in Heaven someday. 1 Peter 2:9 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me for not making a decisive decision to take up my cross and follow you before now. Lord, I have decided to give up everything to follow you from now on. Grant me the grace to stand out in my decision to live in true holiness and righteousness in this critical time, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” (Mark 8:34 KJV).
