TITLE: OBEDIENCE TO GOD

KEY TEXT: Isaiah 1:19 KJV: “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”

Obedience to God is paramount in the life of a believer. God values obedience more than any amount of sacrifices or work done in disobedience. God cannot and will never replace anything with obedience. In Deuteronomy 11:27, it says, "A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day." This emphasizes the importance of adhering to God's commandments. EPHESIANS 6:5-9

Jesus Himself exemplified obedience to God's will. Jesus Christ did all He did on earth according to the commandments of the Father. He gave His life for the sin of man according to the Father's command, hence he said, "Not my will but thine will be done O Father." He also said, "I come in the volume of the book that is written concerning me." In John 8:29, he states, "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him." Jesus' obedience serves as a model for all believers. JOHN 14:15

Obedience to authority figures is also emphasized in the Bible. Romans 13:1 states, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." This verse underscores the importance of obeying governmental authorities. Being a believer doesn't give one the right to disobey the authority of the land. Jesus Christ himself followed the rules of the land while in his earthly ministry to save mankind from their sins. LUKE 6:46

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, grant me the sufficient grace to obey you at all time and in all things, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen

REFLECTION: Matthew 7:21 KJV: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
