TITLE: THE COST OF FOLLOWING CHRIST (PART 3)

KEY TEXT: HEBREWS 12:1 KJV, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

The Lord knows the mind of everyone. Not everyone is ready to sacrifice everything. When people fail to put God and their salvation first, they risk losing everything. By valuing other things more than Jesus Christ and their salvation, they are indirectly preferring hellfire to Heaven. Anyone who ends up in hellfire automatically loses everything. For instance, the people they loved, the wealth they had, and everthing they used to have. HEBREWS 4:12 KJV

You must hate your flesh and love salvation. Following Christ means that you love your life and soul, but those who do not follow Christ hate their own lives and souls. The Lord asked me, “How can you love your neighbor when you do not love yourself?” It is impossible for one to give what he or she do not have. Whoever that does not follow Jesus Christ and keep His commandments hates himself or herself. PROVERBS 8:36 KJV

The pleasures of life should mean nothing to you as a follower of Christ, and you should not value the things as you used to before you got saved. You need to be ready to carry the cross, because the cross of Christ is very heavy to those who have not taken a deliberate decision to follow Him. You will break down along the way if you carry the cross carnally and unprepared. You can only carry the cross while you are living in the spirit. 1 TIMOTHY 5:6 KJV

PRAYER: Lord, have mercy on me for carrying the cross of salvation as a heavy load because of my unprepared and carnal mindset. Release the Holy Spirit upon me to help me through the narrow way, as I repent of my sins today, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name.
Amen.

REFLECTION: “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (ROMANS 8:18 KJV).
