 TITLE: WHO ARE YOU REALLY?

 KEY TEXT: “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew‬ ‭15:8-9‬ ‭KJV).

 Shouldn’t it be that everyone bearing the name Christian should be identified with the life of Christ whom they profess to be following? A lot of Christians are defiling that name by not living according to what it stands for. It is written: “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” Can a plantain tree produce an orange fruit? Why are Christians producing fruits not related to their Master, Jesus Christ? Does it mean many Christians are liars, and are of their father, the devil, who is the father of all lies? The fruits of every professing Christian is what identify him or her to belong in the family of Christ. John 8:44-45 KJV

 DO NOT BE FOOLED: It is written: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Beloved, have you ever asked yourself why this Bible verse was given by our Lord Jesus? Like our Scriptural text says, “But in vain do they worship me....” Why? Jesus knew not all will follow Him because of Heaven. Many today are following Him because of their own selfish needs (to get deliverance, miracles, prophecies, etc.,) and not because they truly want to serve Him, do His perfect will in holiness and true righteousness, and end up in His holy Kingdom. Matthew 7:21-23 KJV

 DO YOU BELONG TO THE CLASS OF GOD’S OWN? Going to church, singing in the choir, paying your tithes, giving offerings, casting out devils, prophesying, preaching, or doing other church activities, etc., does not make one God’s own. Is your life in line with God for Him to say this is my beloved child, in whom I am well pleased? Christ can only say such to one whose daily life reflects a true replica of Him in words and deeds. Such a one must forsake the world and its lust, be born again to be accepted into the family of Christ, and must daily present himself or herself in God’s heavenly standard of genuine holiness and true righteousness without which no man shall see the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:10 KJV

 PRAYER: O Lord, have mercy upon me, for calling myself a Christian but not living the life of Christ as demanded of every true follower of Christ. I repent today, as I seek for the grace to be a reflection of Christ in all my ways in holiness and true righteousness, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

 REFLECTION: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭6:17-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬).
