 TITLE: NO SUPPLEMENT TO FORGIVENESS

 KEY TEXT: “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye” (Colossians 3:13 KJV).

 It is either some Christians are ignorantly disobeying the Scriptures or deliberately resisting the Holy Spirit and rebelling against God. How can a believer boldly say that he or she will not forgive because the other person stepped beyond boundaries? I overheard a pastor of a mega-church saying that he could forgive anyone who insulted him or his wife, but whosoever insults his father in the Lord has no forgiveness. It means his godfather has become his own god that no one should blaspheme. I call that a deliberate rebellion against Christ, right on the pulpit. No genuine believer should be begged to forgive his or her offender. This is because a believer ought to know the importance of forgiveness and how damnable unforgiveness could be to a believer. It is unfortunate that most believers of this generation are stone-hearted. They see the Word of God as a regular book written by a man. Hebrews 12:14 KJV

 DO NOT LET PRIDE DESTROY YOU: The major reason people do not forgive is not because of the severity of the offence. No offence could be more than what we did to God, yet Jesus Christ paid for it, even when we did not ask for it (Romans 5:8). Pride is the main reason people hardly forgive. This is just to show their offender how strong they are, not knowing that strong people forgive easily. It is surprising that most believers who profess to be saved are more hardened in heart than unbelievers. We are supposed to be in the era of grace and mercy, yet mercy and compassion have been deleted from the hearts of most professing Christians. Hence, when a lot of believers die, they go to hell as if they were never redeemed. Luke 11:25 KJV

 UNFORGIVENESS IS AN ENEMY TO THE SOUL: Some believers go for evangelism or get on the pulpit to preach about Jesus Christ when unforgiveness and hatred are in their hearts against someone, knowing that Jesus Christ died to forgive us our sins and commanded us to love and forgive one another. Some brethren can be in the same church and claim to serve the same God, going to the same Heaven, yet have unresolved issues for days, weeks, months, even years. I wonder what kind of Heaven one could enter with a devilish heart of unforgiveness. We must deliberately learn to sincerely forgive and love one another if mercy must speak for us before the Judge of all at last. Matthew 18:21-35 KJV

 PRAYER: O Lord, take away the spirit of unforgiveness from me and all your children all over the world. Open our eyes of understanding so that we might understand what Jesus Christ did for us. We were enemies of God through sin but made righteous through mercy and forgiveness. I receive the mind of Christ, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

 REFLECTION: “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” (Matthew 6:12 KJV).
