TITLE: MONEY FAILS
 
KEY TEXT: “Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit” (Job 10:12 KJV).

The majority of people have forgotten God and are pursuing money because it is written that money answers all things, according to Ecclesiastes 10:19. The wise will dig deep into the spirit to understand the context. The Scripture above was referring to all temporary things that the rich could afford. That was why the teacher went further to say, “Curse not the king nor the rich,” in Ecclesiastes 10:20, because they could use their money or influence to destroy you. This is how far money can go, but it has no power over the soul. Money or riches only answers to things you could easily do away with in this world before you face eternity. If money is answerable to all things, the poor beggar named Lazarus (in Luke 16) would not have entered the Kingdom of God, and the rich man would have used it to buy his way in. Only holiness and righteousness answers all the things of the spirit. Ephesians 5:15-17 KJV

MONEY AND POSSESSIONS WILL DISAPPOINT YOU: The anger of God does not care if one is rich. God is a respecter of no one. The Bible says that the only thing that delivers from God’s wrath is righteousness. Just as righteous Noah found grace before God during his days when the wrath of God was poured upon the earth. It is written, “Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death” (Proverbs 11:4 KJV). You can now see the powerlessness of money and riches that the unwise souls are killing themselves for. If you could take time to visit the cemetery or mortuary, you will be amazed to see that the majority of lifeless bodies were rich and healthy when death visited them. It is not just those who are sick or poor who die first. Anyone God has not extended his or her lifespan on earth will not see the next second, irrespective of his or her riches. Death and hell have no regard for money. Hebrews 9:27 KJV 

GRACE PRESERVES: It is a pity that many people do not study the Word of God. We did not read that the rich man in Jesus Christ’s story fell sick and died because he could not afford hospital bills; but rather, we read that the rich man also died and was buried. The next thing was that he opened his eyes in hell. His money automatically became useless to his dead soul. It may interest you to know that money or good health does not guarantee you life to see the next minute. God preserved you for a reason; but I tell you the truth, the preservative grace can expire anytime. Run to Jesus Christ now before your eyes are closed and reopened in hell where money has no value. Luke 16:22-23 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord, please have mercy and forgive me for ever depending on my abilities and trusting in money rather than you, to whom the life of every creature exists. I repent today and pray for the grace to trust in you alone all the days of my life on earth, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV).
