TITLE: DEFENDING YOUR FAITH TO THE LATTER

KEY TEXT: "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name" (Revelation 3:12 KJV).

When one genuinely becomes born again, one immediately gets enlisted as Satan’s enemy, and an unending battle to contend with one’s faith begins. Satan would make sure that his three fold mission to kill, steal, and destroy are accomplished in one’s life. He is doing everything within his power to frustrate the genuine children and servants of God, to turn them away from their God and their God-given assignments. He is bent on making life miserable for the true children of God, so that they would start doubting their God, and at some point, give up the fight. But would we give up the fight to Heaven? Would we deny our God because of the unfairness we get in this world and the daily battles? Ephesians 6:12; John 16:33 KJV

TAKE HEAVEN AS A DO OR DIE AFFAIR: The mindset of living for what you believe in and it being worth dying for was what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego exhibited when they refused to worship the image of king Nebuchadnezzar, despite the outrageous consequence presented to them. Believers are called to live and act in faith at all times, no matter the situation or circumstance, like the case of the three Hebrew boys. It is written, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-12 KJV

THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH: Understanding the finished work of Christ to justify man through salvation and the eternal glory awaiting him would determine the extent to which one can go in defending his or her faith in Christ and even dying for it. It may interest you to know that those in Heaven did not sleepwalk and find themselves therein. They understood what Christ did for them, the eternal glory that awaited them, and the sacrifices they had to put in to attain Heaven at last. They felt pain, devastation, neglect, rejection, torture, etc. However, they never gave up their fight for what they believed in. It should be noted that all was done in holiness and righteousness, without which, no man shall see the Lord. Hebrews 11:35-39 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, please grant us the grace to fight the good fight of faith till the end, and help those who have given up to realize what they are doing to themselves, as you grant them the grace to repent and run back to you, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12 KJV).
