TITLE: RUN FROM SIN AND AVOID DARKNESS

KEY TEXT: “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:13 KJV).

The world is the way it is now because darkness has engulfed it. Every thought of man is wicked and evil (governments planning evil against the people they profess to be leading, countries like China planning to invade neighboring countries as Russia is doing to Ukraine, etc). They want other countries added to theirs, even when God has blessed them richly. It is the same reason that is making men of gods to do what they are doing to their followers, using all kinds of diabolical means to keep them in bondage. All this is happening because the heart is covered with darkness. Darkness and sin go together. Everyone prays against darkness, even a man that is insane hates darkness. No one sees the beauty of anything covered up in darkness. The world is covered with darkness; hence, hatred and killing are the order of the day. Human beings no longer see the beauty in life anymore. 1 John 3:8 KJV 

SIN IS THE POWER OF DARKNESS: Darkness is negatively powerful, and it takes the grace of God to be free from it when caught in it. Anyone living in sin, regardless of the type or magnitude, is in darkness. You could understand why the key text said that the true believers are delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of Light. John 1:5 KJV 

CONTEND WITH THE DARKNESS OF SIN: I am not talking about the natural darkness that represents the night, but the spiritual darkness associated with sin. The one that covered the earth when Jesus Christ carried the sin of the world on the cross. One could see why Jesus Christ was abandoned by God Almighty when He was covered with the darkness of sin on the cross. To know how negatively powerful darkness is, the earth became complete darkness immediately Jesus Christ bore the sins of men upon Himself. He had to fight with the power of sin (darkness) to restore the light after many hours on the cross. Are you still living in sin? Repent now before darkness completely covers you up without remedy in hell. Luke 23:44 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, please deliver me from the power of darkness that is still ruling over my life, and bring me into your light where sin would be powerless over me, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death” (James 1:15 KJV).
