TITLE: THE CHURCH OF CHRIST AND THE OLD LANDMARK

KEY TEXT: “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:47 KJV).

It is really a pity that what we now have today is the church of men. Most churches that one sees, having thousands in their congregations, are only business ventures owned by charlatans hiding under the name of the Church, growing the population of people that are on their way to hell, and satanic agents pretending to be pastors are leading them. I am concerned about the growth of the true Church of Christ. During the early years of Christianity, the Church of Christ grew greatly, not only numerically, but in spirit and in the fear of God, because the early Christians walked in line with the apostles' doctrine and did everything in common. With gladness and singleness of heart, they followed the same course and minded the same things. They united themselves under the same umbrella of the Holy Spirit, and with genuine hearts, they continued daily in one accord, communing together in breaking of bread, fasting, and praying while studying the Word of God intensely. This made them obtain favour from men, and the Lord added to the Church daily those who were to be saved. Acts 2:44-47 KJV

THE TRUE CHURCH OF CHRIST IS FAST ASLEEP: The devil has succeeded in putting the majority of believers to sleep; hence, they are busy doing the opposite of what the Church stands for. How will the Church grow in our generation when brethren, who are to stand in a united front against the enemy, are envious, hateful, and busy fighting one another?! It is amazing to see a co-pastor angry, seeing new converts added to expand the Church of Christ. Many have resulted in chasing away the Holy Spirit of truth and replacing Him with lies and deceits from the devil to outgrow their churches. The lifestyle of simplicity in holiness embraced by the early Church of Christ has been replaced by an extravagant life of worldliness displayed by today’s Church. This has greatly hindered the flow of the Holy Spirit, who is in charge of the Church of God. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 KJV

UNLESS THE CHURCH RETURNS TO THE OLD LANDMARK: The old landmark is this: “... that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” But this is hardly found in today's Church. Many men of God are doing the work of God with the mind of Satan, greediness, and lordship, and they have turned many into the enemies of the Christ they claim to be working for. Philippians 2:2-5 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, please have mercy and revive the true Church of Christ. Please take us back to the old foundation that was laid upon the solid rock through your blood. May the Holy Spirit return to the church and revive your people from sleep, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing” (Philippians 3:16 KJV).
