TITLE: DO NOT LET YOUR PRIDE DESTROY YOU

KEY TEXT: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:6 KJV).

Since the beginning of time, pride has been one of the driving forces that have brought down so many from highly esteemed positions. This wicked force is always followed by a rebellious action, which has damned so many souls to hell. The father of all lies, the devil, and the fallen angels were cast down from Heaven to hell as a result of pride and rebellion. No one with a proud heart can successfully walk with God and faithfully follow instructions accordingly. Only a humble man can walk with God and be exalted in due time. That is why it is written that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6 KJV

CHRIST, THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HUMILITY: Jesus Christ, the perfect example for the Church, showed perfect submission to the Father’s will for the redemption of mankind. Through His humble birth, selfless earthly lifestyle, suffering, and shameful death on the cross, He defeated the forces of pride and rebellion, submitting in all obedience to the will of the Father, which brought redemption to all of mankind. His earthly lifestyle of total submission and obedience is a perfect example for all who truly want to enter God’s Kingdom. What excuse will you give for not accepting Christ as Lord and Saviour over your life after His finished work for you on the cross of Calvary? What reason will you give for not forgiving your fellow human after Christ forgave all your trespasses and nailed them to the cross? Revelation 3:20 KJV

WILL GOD EXALT YOU AT LAST? Jesus Christ humbled Himself and worked for God and walked with Him, and today, He is highly exalted above all other things in Heaven and on earth. From the key text, one could deduce that God will only exalt those who decide to humbly surrender themselves to Him as Jesus Christ did. Sadly, many believers today are mostly Sunday church-goers, even those working for God are not walking with Him, while those who claim to be walking with Him are not faithfully doing so. Why? Because a perfect walk with God entails total submission and obedience. Give up pride today by genuinely surrendering your life to Christ and He will guide you into His Kingdom. Colossians 3:8-10 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord, please help me to totally submit myself under God’s
mighty hand, to lead me in my walk and work for Him, so that in due time, I will be exalted in Heaven, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” (James 4:10 KJV).
