TITLE: THE FEAR AND LOVE OF GOD CONNECTION

KEY TEXT: “In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge” (Proverbs 14:26 KJV).  

It is mind-boggling to see believers professing to love God without the corresponding fruit of the fear of God in them. Some think working in a church or supporting the work of God is the evidence of loving God, forgetting that God looks at the intention in one’s heart rather than the action. When the fear of God is in a man, the grace to love God in all things is given to him. God knows those who fear Him. He will always do great things in their lives that will make them trust Him even more. When the fear of God is in a man, the confidence to stand to defend his love for God, no matter the situation, will always be in him. Anyone who fears God always sees God and not man in all that he does. Proverbs 14:27 KJV

THERE IS JOY IN TRUSTING AND LOVING GOD: There is unspeakable joy in the heart of anyone who fears and loves God. God would always place one first in blessings and protection, since He is also always first in all that he or she does. Those who fear and love God put Him in the highest priority in all that they do. They go where God's presence would follow them, say things that would not offend Him, and seek His will in everything, and by this, God would always grant them their petition. Psalm 5:11-12

LET THE FEAR OF GOD GUIDE YOU: No one who has the genuine fear of God in him or her would deliberately sin against God or disobey His commands. Some people profess to love God, but they are living in sin. Some men of God say that they love God, but they sleep with other men's wives. Even choristers are sleeping with one another with all their so-called “love” for God. Those who fear God put confidence in Him. It is written in Psalm 118:8 that it is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is foolish for one to put confidence in a man who has no power over his life. Why would you place your hope in a man who does not know what is ahead of him? But one can only fear and love God enough to put his or her complete trust in Him and not man. Let the fear of God in you correspond with your trust and hope in Him. Psalm 91:2, Psalm 146:3-5 KJV

FEAR GOD AND LIVE IN OBEDIENCE TO HIM: There is divine security for those who fear and love God with corresponding trust in Him. Their lives are hidden in God. There is a hedge around those who fear, love, and trust God. God is the refuge and fortress of those who put their confidence in Him. Learn to trust God in every situation and let holiness become your normal way of life, and you will see how great and powerful God is. Psalm 91:2 KJV

PRAYER: My God and my Lord, please have mercy on me and forgive me, in any way I have put my trust in a man or my own ability. My trust will now be on you from now on. Let everything about me be under your divine care from now on as I receive the grace to fear, love, and trust you with complete hatred for sin, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. Isaiah 26:4 KJV

REFLECTION: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV).
