When we consider a child left on his own by his parents to do whatever he wishes, he could always see himself very important or think the parents fear him. Yes, the parents could have left him to watch what would become of him; however, vast majority of such children end up becoming a laughing stock among others. It might pain the parents because of the  reproach but the child would bear both the pain and shame. Luke  15:11-32 KJV
