TITLE: THE CUNNING NATURE OF DECEIT (PART 4)

KEY TEXT: Zechariah 8:17 KJV: “And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.”

In Ephesians 4:25, believers are instructed, "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another." This call to honesty emphasizes the importance of truthfulness in fostering trust and unity within the Christian community and in families. JOB 27:4

Revelation 21:8 lists liars among those who will face the second death in the lake of fire, indicating the severe spiritual consequences of a deceptive life. This stark warning serves as a sobering reminder of the eternal stakes associated with deceit. No deceiver will enter the Kingdom of God. JEREMIAH 9:8

The story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5 further illustrates the seriousness of deceit within the early church. Their attempt to deceive the apostles about their donation led to their sudden deaths, highlighting the grave consequences of lying to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is still in the Church today. The believers must be careful how they try to manipulate things to suit their selfish, fleshy desires. ROMANS 1:9

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please deliver your Church from the spirit of deception, and let truth and integrity reign, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: Psalm 55:23 KJV: “But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.”
