TITLE: THE CUNNING NATURE OF DECEIT (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: Luke 6:31 KJV: “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”

In the New Testament, Jesus warns about false prophets, who come in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravening wolves (Matthew 7:15). This metaphor emphasizes the dangerous nature of deceptive leaders who appear trustworthy but are ultimately harmful. Jesus' warning encourages vigilance and discernment among believers. JOHN 8:44

Paul, the Apostle, also addresses deception in his letters. In 2 Corinthians 11:14, he writes, "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." This verse illustrates how deception can be insidious and difficult to detect, as even the devil can disguise himself to mislead people. You must earnestly pray for the spirit of discernment to be able to test all spirits to avoid being deceived. 1 JOHN 4:1 

The Bible advises believers to seek wisdom and discernment to guard against deception. James 1:5 encourages, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." This assurance of divine wisdom equips believers to recognize and resist deceit. 2 TIMOTHY 3:13 

PRAYER: O Lord, please grant me the spirit of discernment that I may not be deceived by wolves in sheep’s clothing in today’s church, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: 1 John 4:1 KJV: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
