TITLE: THE CUNNING NATURE OF DECEIT (PART 1)

KEY TEXT: Proverbs 12:22 KJV: “Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.”

Deception has been a prevalent issue since the beginning of human existence, as illustrated in the word of God. In Genesis 3:13, Eve said, "The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat." This early instance of deception by the serpent highlights the cunning nature of deceit and its ability to lead individuals astray from God's truth. PROVERBS 10:9

Throughout the Bible, deception is consistently condemned. Proverbs 12:22 states, "Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight." This verse underscores the moral repugnance of deceit and the high value God places on truthfulness. Anything done in deception is an abomination before God, regardless of the good intentions. LUKE 6:31

Deception can have devastating consequences, as shown in the story of Jacob and Esau. In Genesis 27, Jacob deceives his father Isaac to receive Esau's blessing, leading to family discord and long-term separation. This narrative demonstrates how deceit can fracture relationships and bring about unintended and lasting harm. PROVERBS 11:3

PRAYER: O Lord my God, remove from me every Satan's nature of deceit, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: PROVERBS 10:9 KJV: “He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.”
