TITLE: THE CONSEQUENCES OF LABOURING OUTSIDE THE WILL OF GOD (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: JOHN 21:3 KJV, “Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.”

Peter was originally created to win souls for Christ, not to be a fisherman. At one point, he laboured to catch fish but caught nothing, but when Jesus Christ stepped into that situation, he caught something. Jesus thereafter told him that he was to catch men. JOHN 21:6 KJV

Jesus Christ came to fulfill the will of His Father. If He came to search for a beautiful woman or to acquire the materialistic things of life, the purpose of redemption would have been truncated and we would all remain the children of wrath. There is a destructive consequence of labouring outside the plan and purpose of God for your life. Are you following the way God has pre-determined for your life? Every man and woman is predestined for a purpose, as no one is created by chance. LUKE 22:22 KJV

Unfortunately, people do things that negate the original plan of God for their lives. The Holy Spirit that Jesus gave to the apostles was not to catch fish but men. That is why when they attempted to go back to fishing after Jesus' death according to the key text, they caught nothing. They were labouring outside the plans and purpose of God. When you are labouring outside the will of God for your life, it brings sorrow, shame, frustration, demotion, setback, untimely death. GENESIS 3:17 KJV

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, in any way I am labouring outside the will of God for my life, have mercy on me and help me to follow Your divine will, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice” (John 18:37 KJV).
