TITLE: REMEMBER YOUR FIRST LOVE (PART 5)

KEY TEXT: Colossians 4:12 KJV: “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.”

As a pastor, are you still passionate about your members as you were before? Do you still call them when you do not see them in church? You say that you used to call them those days, but now your ministry is becoming big. As the ministry is becoming bigger, your heart for the world becomes larger. You say, “As a man of God, I used to go out for evangelism. That was then, but now, God is doing His work by Himself, it is not by strength or by might." Apostle Paul mentioned that he laboured more than the other apostles. 1 Peter 5:2 KJV

What the Bible says is that you should not take glory in your strength, thinking that your labour is because of your might. Those days you had no apartment and were even squatting, but you could still connect to services. Now you are in your own house but making excuses saying you will wake the children from sleep. You are using the blessings that God has blessed you with against Him as excuses not to serve Him. You give yourself problems because when God sees those things in your life making you not serve Him, He begins to remove them. Deuteronomy 8:11-14 KJV 

Is your Christian life yesterday better than today? Repent. Is your passion for the things of God stronger yesterday than it is today? Repent. Who are you to God now? Not what you were. No genuine pastor would be happy to hear of your passion for God that was deeper yesterday than today. If a man will not be interested in your story, what about God? Revelation 2:19 KJV

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, please forgive me for allowing the blessings you have given me to take me away from You. As I repent, empower me to place nothing else above You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42 KJV).
