TITLE: OUR CHOICES DETERMINE OUR DESTINIES (PART 3)

KEY TEXT: Hebrews 11:25 KJV, “Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.” 

It is advisable to choose to follow, serve, and suffer for God’s sake instead of looking for momentary pleasure that will drag your soul to hell. What humans call pleasure is seasonal, but enjoyment that comes from God is eternal. Moses had the opportunity to live in luxury inside a palace, but he realized that that life was temporary and chose to suffer with the people of God instead. Had he chosen to stay with the Egyptians, he would perhaps have been reminded that he was an Egyptian by adoption, not by birth. Hebrews 11:24 KJV 

DO NOT MISS GOD’S WILL IN LIFE: It is possible for one to miss God’s purpose for his or her life by the choices that he or she makes. If you choose to chase pleasure, popularity, and money, you will definitely miss your glorious destiny. The Bible is letting us know that the Holy Spirit is there to direct you in whatever you are about to do and wherever you are about to go as a child of God. Isaiah 30:21 KJV

ARE YOU LEAVING GOD BEHIND? Are you on your own or is the Holy Spirit there with you? He says that we will hear a voice behind us, telling us what we should do. Any Christian who does not hear this voice is bound to miss his or her destiny. Joshua, as a leader in Israel, had no power to compel the Israelites to follow a certain way, but he requested them to choose the painful but gainful way. Joshua 24:15 KJV

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, I surrender to you completely. Please have your way. Whatever you want me to do, reveal it to me and lead me. Hold my legs so that I will not go where you do not want me to go, and hold my tongue so that I will not say what you do not want me to say, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him” (Matthew 6:8 KJV).
