TITLE: THE LIMITED POWER OF DEATH

KEY TEXT: “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (John 11:25 KJV).

Death is the most dreadful creature. The strongest or most fearless being on earth would see death and be humbled. People who kill human beings like themselves for rituals and other dubious purposes tremble when death knocks at their door. Most people go to church because they need protection against death (both the young and old fear death), and many are trapped in the cage of the spirit of death because of the fear of not wanting to die. Until humanity recognizes the limit in the power of death, they will never be free from the bondage they have subjected themselves in the hands of him that has no power over death (satan). Many people, weak believers especially, are subjected to the fear of death and are enslaved because of the fear of death. Satan has really used the fear of death to bind up a majority of people in his cage. Proverbs 12:28 KJV 

DEATH IS POWERLESS BEFORE THE TRUE CHILDREN OF GOD: Death is only powerful in the sight of those who have no hope of eternity. People like Apostle Paul saw death as gain. He knew that the only reason he needed to live in this world was to preach Christ to those who were not saved and bring them to light. Death has no power over the true children of God. Those who are truly serving God with all their hearts and in total obedience to His Word have no fear of dying. In fact, Paul, the Apostle, in his letter to the Philippians, wrote: “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21 KJV). Why? Because he knew that dying was not the end of his life. Luke 23:43 KJV 

FEAR NO MORE HENCEFORTH: For a true believer in Jesus Christ to die, is to transit into the world of a real life. The devil could not use the threat of death to stop Apostle Paul in his walk with God. Sadly today, most believers are lying, doing all kinds of things to keep themselves from dying. As such, subjecting themselves to eternal bondage. Are you afraid of death? Fear not; fear God who has power over satan and death. Live to die in Christ, and death will lose its power over you. Live your life in total obedience to God and keep yourself pure, and death will be subject to your authority. Matthew 10:28 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, deliver me from the fear of death, and grant me the power to overcome the force of death, so that I might do your will with all boldness, as I keep myself from sin through the help of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope” (1 Thessalonians 4:13 KJV).
