TITLE: THE POWER OF GENUINE REPENTANCE

KEY TEXT: “And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did [it] not” (Jonah 3:10 KJV).

Repentance and asking for forgiveness is the heartbeat of reconciliation and resolving issues. Even the most wicked or heart hardened person who is being offended, will definitely consider and soften his or her heart and forgive his or her offender after he or she genuinely and sincerely pleads for forgiveness. No responsible father or mother would have the mind to punish the child who does wrong when the child has soberly begged for forgiveness and regrets his or her wrongdoing, neither is God Almighty to His children. The Bible says that God is angry with the wicked every day, and there is always a dangerous repercussion of God's anger to anyone who sins wilfully. Sin is wickedness before God and the consequence is death. Jeremiah 26:19 KJV

YOU COULD CHANGE THE MIND OF GOD: You could see in the key text how God saw the work of the people of Nineveh, and how they sincerely repented and turned from their evil ways. God was compassionately moved by their sincere repentance and changed His mind of the evil He had proposed to do to them. This tells us that one could change God's decision about him or her, even if God does not change. Remember the story of Eli and his household in 1 Samuel 3, and how God destroyed him and his sons for the sins of his children after He promised to make him and his generation sit on the priesthood office forever, judging Israel. One could either change the mind of God to repent from doing him or her evil by repenting or change God's mind from blessing him or her by forsaking righteousness for evil. Ezekiel 18:25-27 KJV

MAKE YOUR WAYS RIGHT WITH GOD NOW: I do not know how angry God has been because of your past wickedness or sinful deeds. Maybe God has concluded in His heart that no one will see his face nor enter His kingdom in your family. It could be that God was about to send evil upon you or your family or something terrible is already going on in your life. Beloved of God, it is not too late to change the mind of God to reverse all that. You do not need to contact men of God or go for special deliverance. All you need to do is to sincerely go to God with a sober and genuine, repentant heart on behalf of your family. Ask God for mercy and make your ways right with Him. God Almighty will surely have compassion on you, speak in His mercy and reverse all His evil intentions and bless you and your household. Remember, you must be genuinely born again to enter God's Kingdom. Zechariah 8:14-17 KJV

PRAYER: O Lord God, I come to you with the heart of genuine repentance. Please make me genuine if I am not. I repent of all my past sins and for the sins of my entire family. Have mercy on us, Lord God Almighty, and forgive us and turn away your anger. Let your blessings replace curses in our home, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 CHRONICLES 7:14 KJV).
