TITLE: WHAT ARE YOU SEEKING GOD FOR? 

KEY TEXT: “And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret” (Luke 5:1 KJV).

God is not like man, who is mostly concerned about the actions of individuals. A rich man or a man in authority would be happy seeing people flock around him, hailing and praising him, thinking he is so important to them. But let his money vanish or position get taken away, then he will know how important he really was to them. Those who were praising him will fly away just like his money or position. God is more interested in the motive behind an action. He is not moved by how many people are running up and down to meet Him, nor is He moved by how many crusades, seminars, or revival programmes that are being held here and there. He is more concerned about the motives and intentions of the organizers and attendees. Mark 8:36 KJV 

GOD'S WORD IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY: Jesus Christ remains who He is. He has never changed. He still heals, delivers, and sets captives free through the spoken Word of God. It is unfortunate that most believers today have abandoned the Word of God that has the potency of saving them. Instead, they would rather run up and down, seeking men (who have no solution) to give them but false prophecies to further complicate their problems. Many people go to church for a solution but end up having more problems because they were not interested in what God was intending to offer them that would have given them the solution they needed. Proverbs 4:20-22 KJV 
  
GOD IS LOOKING FOR THOSE WHO SEEK HIS WORD: Jesus Christ has never really paid attention to the multitudes as He did with His disciples. He would give bread and fish to the multitudes and tell them parables, letting them go with their blindness and ignorance to damnation because He knew they would not accept what He had for them that would have been a well of living water to them. He always communed with His disciples in a secret place because  they were those who sought life through His Word (John 6:66-68). Do you want to keep running after miracles until Satan himself lays his hands on you? Wisdom demands that we go for the Word of God, which is Christ Himself. Remember, you must be genuinely born again to access the living water in God’s Word. John 17:17 KJV 

PRAYER: My Father and my God, have mercy on me for running after things that were already given to me freely. I repent and have decided to go after your Word that gives eternal life, as you grant me the grace that I need, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33 KJV).
