TITLE: THE DAMNABLE PROSPERITY

KEY TEXT: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked” (Revelation 3:17 KJV).

It is really unfortunate that most believers do not understand what true riches are all about. Most Christians who say that Jesus Christ was poor to make them rich do not know what they are saying. Many think that having a fat bank account, building houses (as if they are planting flowers), buying cars like toys, and having chains of businesses are what make people rich. Yes, in the sight of a carnal and blind natural man, but definitely not in God’s sight. In the key text, we read about how the believers thought they were rich because they had money and possessions, but Jesus Christ said that they were poor, blind, wretched, and miserable because they were not rich in things that have eternal value. 2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV

ARE YOU GENUINELY IN CHRIST? It is heartbreaking to see Christians of today making the same mistake those poor and miserable believers made in Revelation 3:17. Many think they are rich in their wretchedness and do not know that anyone living outside the coverage of Jesus Christ, no matter how rich or poor, is condemned while he or she lives. So, it would be a pity if those who call themselves believers end up like the unbelievers. Consider your ways now. Many professing believers are actually perishing and on their way to a place of no return for total destruction. Although they are prospering before their own eyes and before the eyes of the lying prophets and preachers who are preaching prosperity messages, they are actually perishing. The false prophets are diverting the hearts of their congregations from the One who died for them to the perishable things of this perishing world of iniquity. Proverbs 10:28 KJV 

WOULD YOU NEED A DEEPER OR WIDER GRAVE?: Some people might get offended by this question, saying that Apostle Emmanuel Osezele is wishing death on them. I counsel them not to be angry, but to re-evaluate their ways of life. Death is inevitable for everyone who is born in this world; if Jesus Christ tarries, it is only but a matter of time. Everyone must prepare himself or herself in holiness and true righteousness by running far from sin and iniquity. No one is permitted to take anything from this world into eternity. All your possessions are only valid here on earth. You will meet your judgment after death. You will surely reap what you are sowing. Remember, you must be genuinely born again. Hebrews 9:27 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord, my God, have mercy on me and forgive me for ever living my life carelessly, depending on my possessions. I repent today. Please lead me in the path of righteousness so that I will not go in the way of the wicked into eternal damnation, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth” (Proverbs 11:7 KJV).
