Title: Enduring Today's Affliction for Eternal Glorification
 
Key Text: 2 Corinthians 4:17 KJV - For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 
 
Only those who have the prospect of seeing God in glory are able to bear the affliction that comes with being a follower of Jesus Christ. Not all believers are following Christ because of the eternal weight of glory that awaits everyone who endures till the end. Hence, many are hanging on the name Jesus Christ just for what they could gain momentarily, and they run from afflictions and anything called persecution. Matthew 24:13 KJV 
 
WHAT ARE YOU SERVING GOD FOR? No one can love beyond the purpose for which he or she is loving. That is why God goes for the motive behind every action. No believer could bear any affliction above his or her purpose of serving God. That is why most believers are unstable, going from one Church to another, seeking for miracles. They would stay in a church if a miracle matches their expectation but are ready to leave the moment their expectation elapses. This set of believers cannot withstand trials because they do not have heaven as their main focus. Colossians 3:1-3 KJV 
 
CHECK YOURSELF AGAIN: Have you really examined yourself and concluded that you are serving God because you actually love Him? You will be able to withstand any trial that comes your way if you do. Isaac was not the bond between God and Abraham, hence, Abraham was able to easily give up Isaac as a sacrificial lamb to God. The material blessings of most believers today are the controlling factors for their love towards God. They are ready to stay as long as the blessings are intact. Such people are far from being born again. So, are you truly born again? Do so now that you still have life. John 14:15 KJV 
 
Prayer: O Lord God, please have mercy on me, in any way I have been serving you for momentary gain and deceiving myself to think that I am born again. Please forgive me as I repent and have decided to serve you genuinely as my God and Father, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen. 
 
Reflection: "But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy" (1 Peter 4:13 KJV).
