DO MORE TO BE QUIET THAN SPEAKING

Jul 30 2020

DAILY DIVINE INSPIRATION

Thurs 30 JULY 2020

TITLE: DO MORE TO BE QUIET THAN SPEAKING

Key Text: Proverbs 13:3 KJV - He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

INTRODUCTION: The problems most people have today were caused by what they said with their own mouths. Many people, even a majority of believers, don't know when to be quiet. Many Christians are crying, saying that they want to hear from God. But how can that be possible when they are busy talking and don’t make time to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

MORE OF HEARING THAN TALKING IS PROFITABLE: Most believers are good at answering and reacting to issues, even when they don't understand what they are talking about or know how the issue started. Some people have taken over other people's problems to themselves due to careless contributions on what they were unaware of nor understood. It is written: "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath" (James 1:19 KJV). You and I can preserve our souls if we adhere to this Word of God. Lamentations 3:26 KJV

ONE IS KNOWN BY HIS OR HER WORDS: Due to the fact that we're represented by our words, it's best that we learn to be quiet. "You are what you say." A wise man or a fool is known by his or her words. For instance, a fool and a wise man could put on the same suit, however, you could hardly differentiate them until they speak. Their speech will differentiate them according to the book of Proverbs 29:11-12: " A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked." Proverbs 17:28 KJV

JESUS IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE: When Jesus Christ was confronted by the Scribes and Pharisees about the issue of the woman caught in adultery in John 8:3-12, He showed us a very good example about listening instead of talking. He was questioned on His point of view on this matter, but He was quiet and gave no answer until He received a response from His Father. His response saved the woman from being stoned to death. Your words can either save or destroy lives. Proverbs 11:12 KJV

PRAYER: Father, may your Spirit rest upon me to always know the right time to speak and to be quiet, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen. Job 6:24 KJV

Reflection: And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you. 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 KJV
